Sweet Asylum Bakery

- Everything you ever wanted to know about Sweet Asylum -

Q) Where is your bakery?
A) Sweet Asylum Bakery is currently only online and provides cheesecake to the Eastside/Seattle Metro area. Sorry, there is no physical storefront.

Q)Where can I buy/order your baked goods?*
A) You can place your order on this website or contact Mel directly at 360-991-5910.
I currently do not have any venues planned until the farmer's markets start up in the Spring. Please check back here for updates or 'Like' the Sweet Asylum Bakery Facebook page for current postings.

*If you are a caterer/restaurant owner who is interested in selling cheesecakes wholesale I would love to talk to you.

Q) Why do I need to give so much advance notice for my order?
A) There are three reasons for this.... first, everything is made to order, from scratch and if possible I like to try to find the freshest local ingredients for your baked goods. The second reason is that I have to make sure that the certified kitchen I use is available to make your order according to your schedule. Third, cheesecake needs to ‘mature’ for two days before you eat it for optimum flavor so they must be made a few days ahead. I currently would love to have several days notice for all orders.

Q)How do I receive my cheesecake?
A) Once you've ordered and confirmed a time you can pick up your cheesecake at:
Class Act Catering, 6855 176th Ave. NE, Suite 255, Redmond 98052.

Arrangements can also be made to deliver your order within the Eastside/Seattle Metro Area.

Prices and roundtrip mileage are as follows:
  • 0.0 to 10.0 miles = FREE delivery (requires a minimum purchase of $20). Delivery is $10 for under $20.
  • 10.1 to 20.0 miles = delivery is $10
  • 20.1 to 30.0 miles = delivery is $15
  • 30  miles and above delivery is available. Call for quote.

Q) Do you ship your baked goods?
A) In the spirit of ‘buy local’ and sustainability I do not ship. Sorry for this inconvenience but  if you are from out of the area wouldn’t it be fun for you to come visit our beautiful area and enjoy fabulous baked creations at the same time?

Q)What forms of payment do you take?
A) At the moment I accept cash, personal checks, and can send emailed invoices via Paypal. Please make checks payable to Sweet Asylum Bakery.

Q) Do you have gluten free options?
A) Yes! My Cheesecake Shooters are gluten free and upon request any traditional cheesecake can be made with a gluten free crust. I do however use a shared kitchen so trace is always a possibility.

Q) Why do you have an ‘almost’ nut-free bakery?
A) My favorite saying is “I may be crazy but I’m not Nuts!” Due to a severe nut allergy, I sparingly use almonds (in only one flavor) and no other nuts are used in any of my baked goods. I do however use a shared kitchen so trace is always a possibility. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Q) What other allergens do I need to be aware of?
A) Potential allergens beyond almonds include wheat, dairy, eggs, sugar, alcohol and/or honey. Gluten and/or sugar-free options are available for most items.

Q)What sweetener do you use in your Sugar-free items?
A) I use Blue Agave Nectar due to its low glycemic index. It substitutes well for granulated sugar, carmelizes nicely, and tastes wonderful.

Q) Can Sweet Asylum cater weddings or other special events?
A) But of course! Contact Mel to work out all the important details.
